Do you recommend that a 16 year old drop almost two grand on a car stereo system? No, I don't either, and I still consider that mistake that my pal made when selling his shares of stock to include a new system in their older Camaro. What made things worse is his car started breaking down a few years later and needed more TLC than he could give it. He ended up in a truck next and didn't transfer his system in the new vehicle.
When you wish a nice system inside your vehicle, it's often far better to make smaller changes as to the the vehicle already has in it. Why? An older car doesn't need a system worth lots of money. A newer car may have a nice system, and you will just want to add an amp, equalizer and also subs. And by the way, those subs don't need to be 12's.

In fact, one good 10" sub would do, and that means you don't even need a set. Speaker quality does be important, so you might not want to decide on the cheapest speakers. Still, locating a system in your vehicle doesn't have to be extremely expensive.
